McKibbon Hospitality

A fresh rebrand calls for modern seating solutions to match.

For the past eight decades, McKibbon Hospitality has partnered with some of the largest proprietors in the industry and now manages close to 100 hotels across the U.S. When the team started making plans to remodel their existing administrative office building in Tampa, Florida, they were looking for a single seating solution that would work for both the collaborative workstations and private offices inside the 10,000 square feet facility. McKibbon’s President of Hotel Management, Randy Hassen, also wanted a design-forward chair that would match the company’s new, modern aesthetic but would still be comfortable for a diverse group of users.

Hassen reached out to Lindsey Stephens of the CI Group, who worked with Florida-based representative Marc Shore of the Shore Group and the design team at HOK to arrange for a handful of test options to be sent to the team at McKibbon. For the next couple weeks, many of the employees tested out a variety of chairs from different manufacturers but the Torsa ergonomic work chair, was the only one that didn’t topple over when the tallest employee—at 6 feet tall—didn’t fall backwards while leaning back. Hassen was also a fan of the sleek, Y-shaped back support.

With the mesh back in a bright red and upholstered seat in SitOnIt’s Element textile in a versatile dark gray, the two-toned look of the Torsa not only goes seamlessly with McKibbon’s rebranded look and feel, but also adds a fresh, modern vibe to the whole office.
